What came first: sound or movement? An answer is impossible and perhaps also insignificant – falsch gmbh is half dance, half music, and both at the same time at 100 percent.
Since their paths crossed in Berlin in November 2024, Milagros Velázquez Nanni and Carley Marholin (both dance), along with Clara Franz and Clara Baesecke (both cello), have dedicated themselves to realizing their shared artistic vision: a performative language in which music and dance are conceived and brought to life together—from the first idea to the fully choreographed composition.
The group’s satirical title is inspired by the impossibility of “doing it right” in the (art) world – especially as a female artist. They follow the idea of doing whatever they enjoy because to someone, it will always be “falsch” (false) anyway.
The collective performed at the 48 Hours Neukölln Festival, won the group category of the Club Oval Crossover Dance Battle, and was invited to two summer residencies: at the Drupa Centre in northern Italy and at MŁYN3D in Poland. Their first full-evening production, ‘betwixt’, premiered at Kappelle99 in May 2026 and was funded by the Projektfonds Kulturförderung Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and the Friedrich Stiftung.
